Doom Fox by Iceberg Slim

This is the last novel written by Iceberg Slim, nee Robert Beck.

Joe Allen is a heavyweight boxer who gets conned by beautiful women in more ways than one.  He ends up doing time all because his wife was cheating on him and he let his anger take control.  The other characters in this story have their own burdens to bear as Iceberg Slim writes about the ghetto and prostitution and hard times had by some and good times had by others.

I do wish that Mr. Beck was still alive. I understand from a documentary about his life the he changed his life around.   I would love to see what else he had to say and write about.  His writing is classic and raw and real from what he lived and saw throughout his life.

Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

Jacob Portman grew up listening to his grandpas stories about kids who could levitate, kids who were strong and a kid who could make fire come out of her hands.

When he shares these stories at school, he is brandished a wierdo and falls out of love with his grandpas stories.  The pictures he saw were fake to him, that is until he meets these peculiar children.

I saw the movie and liked the movie better. I'm hearing there is book 2 and book 3, so guess what I will be reading soon?

Lady Chatterley's Lover by D.H. Lawrence

I don’t know what to say.  This book deals with so many issues – sex, adultery, love, language, social structure and class, etc etc…

I enjoyed reading it and may want a personal copy.

The author describes a woman’s orgasm to ending a paragraph with a series of asterisks.  His description of a how men and women feel after climax is dead on.  The man is usually done and moved while the woman lingers in a romantic state long after.
